Garden Of Eden Decoration Ideas

The Garden of Eden was described as a natural wonder with trees, plants and flowers.

The Garden of Eden, as described in the Old Testament, was a lush, animal-filled paradise that had everything its inhabitants, Adam and Eve, needed to live a comfortable existence. The storyline has it that there was a special fruit tree, the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, in the middle of the garden that was off-limits. Adam and Eve could eat everything else in the garden. The Serpent convinces Eve it is all right to eat of the forbidden fruit, and Adam and Eve are punished. Decorating for a Garden of Eden theme means having trees, plants and flowers, serpents and fruit of all kinds. Does this Spark an idea?

Trees, Plants and Flowers

Decorating for a Garden of Eden theme would be easiest if it were outdoors in a place that is jungle- or forest-like. If this is not a possibility, it is not impossible to bring a jungle or forest to your location by decorating a deck or patio with large potted leafy plants and flowers. These do not even have to be living, but could be faux plastic and silk. Buying large real or faux potted plants and flower can be an expensive proposition. One solution is to borrow these from friends or ask guests to bring one to make the garden. If you are creative and have time, you can paint trees, plants and flowers on wood or sturdy cardboard like scenery for a play and use them to decorate the location.

Serpent

Decorating a Garden of Eden would not be complete without a serpent lurking around. You could place one large serpent on or around an apple tree. Large stuffed serpents can be found in toy stores, or you can borrow one from a friend. You can easily make your own serpent by cutting the legs off green tights and stuffing them with pillow filling. You can decorate them with white eyes made of felt or fabric paint and add colors to help it look like a snake. The garden can have many of these serpents lurking around as well as smaller plastic snakes that you can buy at a dollar store.

Fruit

The Garden of Eden was purported to be lush with fruits of all kind. You can use fruit to decorate the garden in a couple of ways. Strings of hanging lights with plastic fruit can add charm and lighting to the garden. Another way to add fruit is to hang plastic fruit from trees and plants. Plastic fruit can be bought at dollar stores in the toy section. Hang apples from the Tree of Knowledge with the serpent entwined in it. You can also place bowls of fresh fruit around the garden.
