Fireman Birthday Games

Let your party guests pretend they're firefighters by playing fireman birthday games.

Children often have an interest in anything that involves heroism and bravery, so throw a fireman-themed birthday party for your son or daughter. Ensure all your attendees have a good time by playing some fireman-themed birthday games.

Firefighters in Training

See how well your young party guests can fill a firefighter's shoes by playing this game from birthdaypartyideas4kids.com. Begin by setting up an obstacle course in the backyard. Use cardboard boxes to create tunnels and "buildings" that the children will leap over and crawl under to get to the end of the course. At the end of the course, hang a stuffed animal loosely from a tree. Line all the players up at a starting point. Place firefighter clothing (boots, helmet and suit) in bins in front of the line. When you blow a whistle, the first player has to quickly put on the fireman's uniform and race through the obstacle course. At the end of the course, she has to pull the stuffed animal down from the tree and make it back to the starting point. Time each player as they take their turns. The player with the fastest time wins the game.

Leap Through the Flames

Cover the outside of hula hoops with red and orange streamers to create the look of flames. Set up a cord attached from one side of the party area to the other and pull it through all of the hula hoops. Keep the hula hoops in place by attaching the top of them to the cord with duct tape. The cord should be relatively low so the children can hop through the hoops easily. Line the children up at one side of the cord. When you say "Go," the children race through the hoops. Once all of them have gone through the hoops, raise the hoops higher. Eliminate any players who touch either the hula hoops or the streamers. The last player standing wins the game.

Put Out the Fire!

Though you may not have a fire hose, teach the children an old-fashioned way of putting out a fire by playing this game from amazingmoms.com. Place two large, empty buckets at one side of the play area and two large, water-filled buckets at the other side. Divide the players into two teams and situate either team in a horizontal line so one player stands next to the empty bucket and another stands near the filled bucket. Hand each player his own small bucket or bowl. When you say "Go," the player nearest the filled bucket fills his bowl with water. He then empties his water into the next teammate's bowl. This process continues down each team's line until the last player empties his bowl into the empty bucket. The players continue emptying their water into the bucket in this way until one team--the winning team--has filled the once-empty bucket.
