Face painting is a fun activity for an elementary school fair.
Whether it's called a field day, a festival or a fair at your elementary school, it needs to feature games. Although the kids might play on their computers or their video game consoles at home, a school festival with its low-tech games always draws a crowd.
Bean Bag Toss
Bean bag toss works well at an elementary school fair. It is easy to understand, making it feasible for even the youngest children, yet it takes skill, making it interesting for the older kids. The physical education teachers at the school may already have bean bags in their department; if not, they are easy to fashion by a craft-minded parent. A painted and decorated piece of plywood with appropriate-size holes is the only other necessary piece of equipment. Players toss the bean bags through the holes to score points and win prizes.
Ring Toss
This game is simple, but can be deceptively difficult to win. Pegs are set up at a certain distance and players attempt to throw rings onto the pegs. If desired, set up pegs at different distances with different prizes, with the farthest pegs giving the best prizes.
Musical Chairs
Most kids already know play musical chairs. It is a good game for a fair because it involves many people at a time and is easy to play: people circle around an amount of chairs one less than the number of people while music plays; players try to sit in a chair when the music stops. The last person sitting wins a prize.
Fishing Pond
With fishing pond everyone's a winner, so you will need a lot of small prizes. Players insert a small fishing pole through a hole in a screen or board. Someone behind the screen or board hooks a prize, some large, some small, on to the end of the line. This is a great game to ensure that everyone at the fair wins something. Candy makes great prizes.
