Florida Rv Camping Grounds

Florida RV Camping Grounds

As one of the nation's top tourist destination, Florida draws tens of millions of visitors every year. People traveling in an RV can find many great campgrounds near some of the state's most popular beaches, parks and attractions. Given the high number of annual tourists, many of these RV campgrounds include full-service amenities.

Disney World

For millions of visitors every year, Disney World is the top destination in all of Florida. The iconic amusement park holds a special place in hearts and minds of children and their families. While most visitors opt to stay in hotels, Disney actually operates a large RV campground as part of the Fort Wilderness Resort. RV amenities vary by site but typically come with electrical hookups, cable TV, Internet access and a sewage hookup. According to Disney World's website, these sites cost $44 to $74 a night and can hold a maximum of 10 people. Free transportation is available to all Disney World attractions.

The Everglades

Covering the southern tip of Florida, Everglades National Park conjures up images of wild swamps and crocodiles. The national park has two campgrounds that can accommodate RVs. Next to Florida Bay, the Flamingo Campground has both walk-in and reservable sites. The second RV campground at Long Pine Key is available on a walk-in basis only; this campground is situated inland close to the freshwater marl prairie. The RV sites are 7 miles from the park entrance.

The Florida Keys

The Florida Keys are a series of small sandy islands stretching out from the southern tip of the state. Renowned for their beautiful beaches, the Keys are connected to the mainland by a series of bridges along Highway 1. Several RV campgrounds exist throughout the Keys. Once such destination is the Sunshine Key RV resort, a private island with major amenities like full hookups, a pool and a marina.

Florida Caverns

While the beach and Disney World leap to mind when most people think of Florida, the state park system has several hidden gems that have nothing to do with Mickey Mouse and sand. At Florida Caverns State Park, visitors can take cave tours that explore a subterranean world filled with beautiful rock formations. An RV campground within the park provides water and electric hookups.
