Diy Cake Plate

Make a homemade cake plate for your homemade cake.

A cake plate allows you to quickly and easily move your cake without fear of it crumbling or toppling over. While you can purchase a cake plate, cakes of different sizes and shapes may not fit on a standard plate. Instead of collecting a wide variety of cake plates, you can make them using inexpensive materials so that you always have a cake plate that is the perfect size. In addition to being the correct size, you can decorate your homemade plate to perfectly match your cake or the theme of your event. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Cut a piece of cardboard to the desired size of your cake plate with scissors. Choose a sturdy piece of cardboard so it will support the weight of your cake. If the cardboard bends or flexes easily in your hands, it is probably not strong enough.

2. Tear off a square of aluminum foil approximately 2 inches larger in diameter than the piece of cardboard. For example, if the cardboard is 9-inches in diameter, you need an 11-inch diameter piece sheet of aluminum foil.

3. Place the aluminum foil on top of the cardboard cake plate and fold the sides of the foil over the edges of the cake plate to secure it in place.
