Green Pineapple Window Treatments

Green Pineapple Window Treatments

Pineapples look delicious in real life or as images on fabric. As a tropical fruit, the sight of pineapples evokes feelings of the tropics, relaxing times and the abundance of nature. Share your love of the color green and pineapples by creating window treatments made with both of them in mind. Does this Spark an idea?

Pineapple Stamp

Buy light green linen fabric and yellow fabric paint. Create your own pineapple-shaped stamp out of a sponge or buy a pineapple stamp at a crafts store. Dip your stamp into the fabric paint and stamp evenly spaced pineapple prints around your curtain fabric. You can also stamp a pineapple border about 4 inches above the bottom of the curtain. Another possibility is stamping small white or light orange pineapple shapes on your curtain fabric. Another choice is pineapple stenciling. Buy the shape and size stencil you want, along with fabric paint and a stenciling brush and dot your fabric with pineapples. You can use this to create a stenciled border, too.

Green Pineapple Lace

Find green pineapple lace curtains. If you can't find a green lace variety, buy white ones and dye them the shade of green you want. Or try using crocheted pineapple doilies, which can be bought online. Pineapple shapes are a commonly used crocheting pattern for doilies, so you should be able to find many different doily styles and shapes. Dye them a light shade of yellow-green and attach them to each other to create a cafe-style curtain valance. Use a matching green color in a solid fabric for the lower part of the cafe curtain, or make the bottom section of the cafe curtains light yellow, for an overall pineapple look.

Pineapple Print Fabric

Find fabrics with the natural green and yellow color of pineapples. If you have your heart set on a particular shade of green, purchase white or cream-colored fabric with a black ink pineapple stamp on it, such as a pineapple toile. Dye the fabric to get the color you want or leave the background alone. Use fabric paint to fill in the green tops and yellow pineapple bottoms.

Pineapple Sheers and Valances

Buy a set of white sheers with pineapples embroidered on them. Create a drop down valance out of fabric with green pineapples on a yellow background, yellow pineapples on a green background or some combination of colors with green in the theme. Consider creating a padded cornice out of pineapple print fabric or lace. Cover the cornice frame with foam padding and green solid fabric. Cover the green fabric with pineapple lace or sheer fabric with pineapples embroidered on it. Another possibility is to cover the cornice with padding and green fabric. Follow this by stamping tiny pineapples on the green fabric with white fabric paint and a rubber stamp.
