Diy First Birthday Boy Onesie

Let your son show off his signature style in a personalized birthday shirt.

If you want a one-of-a-kind, personalized look for your little man on his first birthday, look no further than your own craft skills. You can make a first birthday onesie for your boy with just a few minutes' time. This no-sew project only requires basic crafting skills, and it's personalized but still wearable for the entire year after his birthday. Whether you make a onesie, a bib or a T-shirt, this project is sure to be a crowd favorite at the birthday party.

Instructions

1. Trace or stencil out a large, block-style number one onto a piece of heavy paper or cardstock. Cut out this shape and set it aside to be your stencil later.

2. Cut a piece of fabric and interfacing that match the height and width of the number one stencil; choose fabric that matches your son's birthday party theme or some of his favorite things, such as trains or monsters.

3. Iron the interfacing onto the back of the fabric. Follow the directions on the interfacing and keep the adhesive backing on the backside of the interfacing.

4. Place the number one stencil down on the interfacing side of your iron-on. Position the "1" so that it faces backwards and trace it onto the interfacing. Then cut out the interfacing and fabric together to be the shape of the number one.

5. Remove the adhesive backing on the interfacing and iron the "1" onto the middle of the onesie. Let it cool entirely.

6. Use fabric paint to trace neatly around the iron-on. This will help seal in the ends of the fabric so they do not fray when you wash it. Once the paint is fully dry your son's onesie will be ready for its birthday debut and to wear all year long.
