All Inclusive Winter Getaways

An all inclusive break could be the way to enjoy some sunshine during the cold months.

Just imagine it's the first working Monday in January, the holiday season's over and the daily commute is under way. However, you're heading off on a winter vacation, swapping the cold and wet for either sunshine and swaying palms or the ski slopes. Once you arrive at your resort, all your meals and drinks are already paid for so you can simply wind down without having to worry about how much is in your wallet. This type of trip is called "all inclusive" and is a good option if you just want to relax in the sun or in the mountains.

Sunshine Destinations

If you want to enjoy some all-inclusive winter sun, the Florida Keys area has recorded temperatures as high as 29 degrees centigrade in January. Palm Springs in California has recorded temperatures as high as 32 degrees centigrade during the same period. Hawaii's beautiful islands offer similar temperatures. Some parts of Europe also offer respectable amounts of sunshine in winter. Spain's Costa Del Sol provides the chance to combine an all-inclusive winter break with visits to historic cities such as Granada, Seville and Cordoba.

Ski Breaks

Colorado is well known for its ski resorts, but there are many others in states across the U.S. from New Jersey to Oregon. Canada also offers numerous opportunities to ski across its vast landscape. Europe's ski resorts in France, Italy, Austria and Switzerland provide a chance to combine skiing with visits to some of the world's most beautiful cities such as Lucerne, Geneva, Vienna and Salzburg.

Compare Prices

Hotels in all of these destinations offer all-inclusive options. This type of holiday may, at first glance, appear expensive. However, if you compare the price with the extra money you would pay for drinks and meals on a "room only" or "bed and breakfast" reservation, you will almost certainly find it to be a value for money option.

Check Carefully

Of course, an all-inclusive vacation is only true value for money if standards at your hotel are good. The room may be lovely and the pool area immaculate, but if you have to pay to eat out because this degree of quality does not extend to lunches and dinners, the vacation is going to prove expensive. Before making any reservations, check out the hotels you're interested in with some online research at Trip Advisor and Holiday Truths.

Seek Advice

Decide on your budget and then use the Internet to price all inclusive holidays within this figure in the destination of your choice. Don't forget to factor in the cost of flights and transfers between the airport and your resort. If you still can't decide, take the advice of a travel agent. Personal recommendations from friends who have already taken an all-inclusive vacation are also a valuable source of information.
