The Model 500 features Hogue designed, wrap-around grips made with Absorbathane internal cushions to reduce recoil impact. General Specs
S&W made the Model 500 to shoot the .500 S&W Magnum Cartridge. It is considered a double-action revolver and has a cylinder capacity of five rounds. The revolver features a Hogue rubber, monogrip made to reduce the recoil impact. The rear sight is adjustable and the front sight is an interchangeable post sight. The sight radius is 10.75 inches. The Model 500 is finished in a brushed stainless steel. The S&W Model 500 weighs 72.5 oz. when unloaded and has an overall length of 15.0 inches.
Barrel Specs
Smith and Wesson built the Model 500 with a 8.38 inch barrel that has an internal tube that protrudes slightly. It included a removable three-vent muzzle brake that fits over the protrusion. The barrel rifling is a six groove, 1:18.75 LH twist.
Safety Specs
Smith and Wesson includes two key safety features in the Model 500 design. The big revolver is fitted with both an internal self-engaging hammerblock and a safety hammer keylock.
