Do It Yourself Baby Shower Invitation

Baby showers often have a theme associated with them, whether it has to do with the nursery's design, a color scheme or simple "baby boy" or "baby girl." The invitation is the first thing guests see and that sets the tone, theme and style. Thus, you want an invitation to instantly tell someone this is a baby shower. Making your own baby shower invitations allows you to achieve this as you control everything in the design, plus you can save money making your own as you won't have to purchase pricey manufactured cards. Does this Spark an idea?

Diaper Invitations

Make some invitations to look like baby diapers. Print all the party details on a white piece of cardstock or index-card size sheet with the computer (or handwritten if you prefer). Get some white cotton material. Lay it out flat and make a template for a baby diaper that fits around the index card. Clip a diaper pin on each side of the index card and attach the fabric to the paper. That's it; you have a diaper invitation. You can make the cardstock into a diaper shape that folds up, have the information printed on the inside and add diaper pins to it for the same sort of idea.

Baby Bib Invitations

Purchase some blank white cards that open vertically. Create a baby bib by cutting a U-shape out of the top fold's center. Curve the card's bottom into a wide U-shape by rounding the corners with scissors. Decorate the outside with fabric, markers, crayons, stickers or other embellishments. You can make every bib the same or create unique patterns and designs on each one. Print all the party details on the side of the card and you're set.

Footprint Invitations

Create invitations that looks like baby footprints or have stamped baby footprints on them. You can use cardstock to make the invitations. Let your mind run wild with all the ways you can create the footprints (paint, glitter, chalk, cut outs, stamps). Include the party details on the side or back side of the footprint card.

Baby Bottle Invitations

Purchase some blank white cards that open horizontally. Keeping some of the left edge intact, draw a baby bottle design on the card and cut it out so you have a bottle-shaped card. Use colored cardstock or construction paper to create the nipple at the top and glue on over the cut out shape. You can write on the baby's name (if known) on the bottle or leave it blank. On the inside print all the party details.
