The Grand Floridian, Disney World's most expensive and formal resort, is located next to the Magic Kingdom on the Seven Seas Lagoon. Guests staying at the Grand Floridian enjoy more than just the opulent surroundings. This resort is one of only three served by the monorail, so getting to the theme parks is fast and easy.
History
The Grand Floridian opened in June 1988, as the Grand Floridian Beach resort and became the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa in 1997. Since opening day, this resort has been considered the finest and most luxurious place to stay in Disney World.
Themes and Decor
The Grand Floridian resort has a turn-of-the-century theme, complete with floral chintz furnishings, candy-striped textiles and a baby grand piano in the lobby. Some rooms have "Alice in Wonderland" themed bedding and textiles, while others have traditional floral decor. A 12-foot filigree birdcage and glass elevator are just a few of the decorative touches in the comfortable, large lobby.
Amenities
The Grand Floridian features a wide variety of dining options, including Victoria and Albert's, Disney's finest restaurant and kid-friendly character dining at 1900 Park Faire. Guests staying at the Grand Floridian can swim in one of three pools, rent boats or bikes at the marina or play in the arcade. Complimentary life vests and towels are provided at all pool locations.
