Class Reunion Party Planning Ideas

Class Reunion Party Planning

Whether it is your tenth, fifteenth, or twentieth class reunion, the party is a big deal. You will see friends and former classmates that you may not have seen in a number of years. There are many options to consider when planning a class reunion party. You have to think about organizing the event, where to hold the event and what to have at your party..

Organization

Planning for a class reunion should begin a year before the event. The first step in planning a class reunion party is to organize and form committees. There are a lot of tasks to take care of and there is no way you can do them by yourself. Have different groups focus on the location, the invitations and the actual event.

The group focusing on location should take care of reserving a space and also look into airline, car rental and hotel information for the area. The committee taking care of invitations will have to compile names, addresses and e-mails. They'll also keep track of responses. The group organizing the actual party should be larger. That group can further divide into separate committees responsible for food, activities and reunion keepsakes.

Location

When choosing the location for your class reunion party, pick a venue that is large enough for everyone and near hotels people from out of town can reserve. Some ideas include renting out a banquet room in a downtown hotel in the city where you graduated or nearby, charter a boat, rent out part of a bar or restaurant or have the reunion outdoors at a park.

The Party

Things to consider for the actual event include food, decorations and activities. The type of food and how large a meal you serve depends on what venue and time you choose for your party. If you book a downtown hotel, you'll most likely have a buffet or sit down meal. If you rent out a bar, you may just serve appetizers. The decorations can range from simple to more elaborate. One idea is to base the decorations on your school colors. Another idea is to hang old caps and gowns if any are still around. You could also collect pictures from your high school years and blow them up. For activities, you may just have dinner and dancing. You could also choose to have a few icebreakers to get people reconnected.
