Family Reunion Invitation Letter Examples
Sending out invitations for your family reunion can be exciting, but it can also be overwhelming because of the many options available. But you can rely on some tried-and-true designs for your invites. Simply decide which applies best to your family or what sounds most appealing to you, and you're on your way to creating a classic family reunion invitation. Does this Spark an idea?
Picture
If you have a picture of your family to put on your invitation, scan it and make a computer file that you can use to print it. Or, go to a photo developer and have him make one copy for each invitation you are sending. This can be expensive, but it will be a keepsake that your family members can keep forever. An example of this type of invitation is to use a worn-looking paper and lightly tape an old family photo to the top of it. Then add the pertinent information like date, time, place and other applicable details. Print out the information on the invites using an antique-looking font.
Paper
First, decide what kind of paper you want to use to print the invitations. Because it is a special day, you may not want to use plain paper, but you probably do not want to break the bank on the invitations either. Go to your local print and copy or stationary store, which usually has various types of stationary. You can use full sheets of paper for each invite, or find papers that have been separated to make two smaller invites. If you plan to use a picture, make sure it fits on the paper you choose. You can make your own paper as well. For example, take a piece of computer paper and lightly burn the edges. Be sure not to burn too far into the page or the information will not be able to fit. Then use calligraphy to make the writing look old and authentic. If you do not know calligraphy, you can print out the invitations before the burning.
Design
Design the invitation so that you do not crowd the picture and content of the letter. To avoid crowding, you can put the family picture on the back of the invitation. You don't need a fancy border or design on this side, so use a old-looking font and type something like "Jones Family Reunion" above the picture. For example, if your family reunion in somewhere in the southwest, design your invitation like an old western "Wanted" poster. Have the picture of your family near the top and above it write "WANTED: All Jones Family Members." Then under the pictures add the important location and RSVP details.
Content
Certain information is very important to include in the invitation. The date, time and location are the most important. Next is importance is the contact information. Some family reunions set up web pages. If your family has done this, make sure to include the web address. If there is a fee to attend the reunion, be sure to write that information as well. If they will need any specific types of clothes or equipment (for games or changes in weather, etc.), be sure to tell the recipients. An example of how the content should read is:

Wear shorts and a t-shirt and bring plenty of outdoor games to play and your specialty food dish to share.
