A few well placed items will transform your backyard into a beach party.
Beach parties are always a lot of fun, but if you are like most people, you don't have access to the beach that often. This does not mean that you cannot have a beach party. You just need to create the feel of it in your backyard by setting up with some key accessories. A few well-placed items and food choices allows you to bring your guests into several beach party themes. Does this Spark an idea?
Beach Camping Party
Set up a beach camping party, not that you actually have to camp. Pitch a couple of tents that kids can play in or have one set up for card games for the adults. Place a fire pit where guests can make s'mores or roast hot dogs. Spread sand around the fire as if it is a bonfire on the beach. Set up a table with all the fixings for food and have fire sticks to use for cooking. Spread sand in another area on top of a tarp, and spray a little water on it to dampen. Add buckets and shovels for a sand castle building contest. Play some beach music and ocean wave sounds to complete the feel.
Luau
Have a luau beach party that will take guests to a Hawaiian paradise. Place tiki torches throughout the back yard and a fire pit for everyone to sit around. Get a caterer, or someone who knows how, to cook a pig for the luau. Hand out grass skirts to the women in the party and leis to all the guests. Bring in a dance instructor to show guests hula. Play Hawaiian music in the background.
Classic Beach Party
Bring all the classics to the backyard for your beach party. Blow up, and throw around, colorful beach balls, and set up an above-ground pool in one corner of the yard for the evening. Play old rock tunes such as the Beach Boys. Grill out classic burgers and hot dogs, but add some flair by serving some unusual toppings, such as hot peppers, along with the basics. Set up a sand castle area to entertain the kids, or you could have a sandy volleyball court.
