Games For A Church Fair

There are many components to a church, outside of Sunday worship and Bible study. From potluck dinners to musicals and more, churches cater to their members with a number of entertainment options. Church fairs are among the more common events held by churches of all sizes and can be small and simple or vast and complex, with an array of rides, games, food and more. Church fairs are held for many reasons, for example, to raise money for the church itself or to donate to a charity.

Duck Pond

This is a fun water-based game geared towards children of all ages and benign enough to work for a church fair. Fill up a kiddie pool with water and a dozen (or more) plastic ducks, each with small symbols on them, such as three different styles of crosses or a one-word religious phrase on the bottom. Children choose ducks from the pool and their prizes depend on the symbol or word on the bottom the ducks, with each symbol or word corresponding to a different prize, from small to large.

Dunk a Pastor

If the pastor board at your church are relatively good-natured individuals, then conduct a traditional dunking booth with various members of the board. The congregation will enjoy the opportunity to interact with church officials in a more casual setting, and the pastor board may enjoy the opportunity to let their hair down, so to speak. If you don't have the resources to get a dunking tank, you might consider a pie-throwing contest instead.

Christian Bean Bag Toss

Riffing on the traditional bean bag toss concept, you could instead use a board with major themes from your religion on them. For example, a Christian church fair might have a board with holes that has a picture Jesus and a loaf of bread, and the bean bags might be in the shape of fish to go with the theme of Jesus feeding 5,000 people with a loaf of bread and fish. The idea here is to toss the fish into the holes. If yours is a Jewish fair, you might do a bean bag toss with bean bags in the shape of the star of David. The premise of the game is the same, but the appearance of it makes it more authentic to the theme of the fair.
