Blonde hair looks attractive in braids.
They say that blondes have more fun, but blondes also have very attractive hairstyles. Though blondes are more susceptible to unfortunate incidents with pool chlorine or hair dye disasters, blondes that manage to maintain a bright golden color can pretty much style their however they like.
One especially versatile hairstyle is the braid. It's perfect for keeping your hair out of your face while exercising, cooking or working and doesn't flatten or weaken your hair like ponytails do. Braids also come through in a bad hair day emergency; they look elegant and polished even when your hair isn't behaving. There are also countless ways to arrange your braids for any occasion. Does this Spark an idea?
Scarlett Johansson Style
This look is perfect for blondes on any occasion; Scarlett wore it on the red carpet, but you can wear it to work, a dinner party, to class or on a date that is casual to formal. Part your hair to the side in the front and gently finger-comb the rest of your hair back. Start with the lighter side of your front part and gather a bundle of hair together just above your ear. Twist it once to secure the hair together and make a tiny French braid that travels back your scalp to just in line with the bottom of your earlobe. Repeat across the rest of your head. If you have short hair, this keeps it in place and gives it a funky, modern appearance. Long hair will flow from the braids down your back elegantly. Take this look to the next level with tiny rhinestone or flower clips or lightly spray your hair with glitter to finish.
Drew Barrymore's Braids
Though actress Drew Barrymore sported this look with chic evening wear, you can pair it with anything from a sequin dress to a simple denim jacket or even a strappy tank top and some flip-flops. Amateur braiders may want to ask for help, since much of the braiding goes on behind the head. You can also set up a mirror directly behind your vanity mirror so you can see your work. Part your hair to the side in the front and clip the heavier side separate from the rest of your hair. Gently gather three or four more sections of hair together at random near the center of the crown of your head and secure them with elastic bands. Release your hair from the clip in the front and French braid it from where the part begins to the center of the back of your head. Braid the rest of the gathered sections as well, coil them at the back of your head and pin them in place.
French Pigtails
This braided style can be worn with any color hair, but is especially striking on blondes. Part your hair to the side all the way back and gather it into two loose pigtails. Push the pigtail on the lighter side of the part over its corresponding shoulder and release the pigtail on the heavier side of the part. Begin French braiding your hair parallel to your hairline and then back behind your ear all the way to the side of the nape of your neck. Secure the braid with an elastic band and repeat this process on the other side of your head. Release the other bunch of hair from its elastic band and coil your hair into a loose or messy bun, letting tendrils of hair trail artfully from the nape of your neck. You can also pull hairs down around your face. Complete this look with flowers woven into the braids, rhinestone pins, glitter spray or even silk leaves or feathers slid into the braids.
