Finger Foods For A Hawaiian Style Party

Sliced pineapples are an easy finger food at Hawaiian parties.

Hawaiian parties, or luaus, are often tropical, festive parties that channel the feeling of being on the Hawaiian Islands. Foods typically involve various types of meat and fruits, but especially the pineapple. Add twists to standard recipes for a special dish that will wow your guests. Does this Spark an idea?

Chicken Wings

Instead of using barbecue or buffalo sauce on your chicken wings, make them using apricots. Glaze the apricots onto the wings before you grill them. Lightly glaze them after as well to add extra flavor. Make sure to have lots of napkins around.

Coconut Shrimp

The coconut is a tropical fruit and coconut shrimp is a favorite of many people. Roll the shrimp in coconut beer batter before you cook them. Then have a mango dipping sauce for people once the shrimp is done cooking.

California Rolls

Making a small substitution to the traditional California Roll can make a Hawaiian finger food for either appetizers or the main dish. There are typically slices of avocado in California rolls, so remove these and put slices of mango inside instead.

Samosas

You can buy chicken samosas at the store and glaze them with a tamarind marinade. This creates a tropical flavor for the standard chicken samosas. If you make your own samosas, add coconut to the filling so it is even more Hawaiian.

Fruit Kebabs

Pick out some fruits like pineapples, mangoes and guavas and make kebabs out of them. Grilling the pineapple ahead of time adds the the Hawaiian appeal as well because they grill pineapples there.
