Baby Shower Candle Centerpieces

Decorating for a baby shower uses fun and cheerful colors and patterns.

Throwing or hosting a baby shower involves decorating for the occasion. Using centerpieces in the middle of tables is one element of decorating for a baby shower. Using candles as part of a centerpiece design adds to the allure of the display and provides ambient glow that sets the mood for the event. Baby shower candle centerpieces can be crafted in an assortment of styles, shapes and sizes. Does this Spark an idea?

Rubber Ducky

For a gender-neutral baby shower, focusing on rubber ducks is one way to create a centerpiece that uses candles in the display itself. Use a galvanized steel basin, white tin tub or shallow clear punch bowl. Fill the container one-half of the way full with water, add a few drops of blue food coloring and swirl to distribute through the water. Fill a tall glass vase with beads or marbles one-quarter of the way up to add weight to the vase. Insert a yellow pillar candle inside the vase and set the vase in the container of water. Float rubber ducks in the basin of water.

Cake

A smaller scale baby shower can use the shower cake for double duty by using the cake itself as a centerpiece. By doing this, you will cut down on the expense of providing centerpieces and can make one large table where all food is displayed and served. When using this option, you can have a cake in the shape of a baby carriage, baby bottle or crawling baby made and then lined with candles. The cake and candles act as both dessert and a centerpiece display.

Revealing the Gender

Candles used as part of a centerpiece can be instrumental when the shower is being used to reveal the gender of the baby. To pull this centerpiece off, you will need clear glass or silver trays. Using either pink or blue votive candles housed in clear votive holders, spell out the phrase "It's a Girl" or "It's a Boy." Be creative with how you arrange the votive holders. The message will come across given the candle color choice!

Pink or Blue Theme

A baby shower where the gender is already known can be enhanced by using candles in shades of pinks or blues to coordinate with the rest of the party. Pillar candles can be used, one per place setting, on a simple white pedestal to provide a glow throughout the entire venue. For a more central type of centerpiece, use wide pillar candles each housed inside tall, clear candle holders in an assortment of sizes arranged around a round platter. Decorate the centerpiece by inserting pink or blue flowers and greenery between the pillar candle holders.
