Decorating A Tent For An Outdoor Wedding

Decorate your wedding tent to create a soft, romantic ambiance.

Wedding tents offer the best of an indoor and outdoor wedding; they allow you to host an outdoor wedding in any weather because the tent provides shelter for you and your guests. Wedding tents are typically large, plain white structures that serve as a blank canvas for you to dress up any way you see fit. Decorate the tent to complement your wedding color scheme, theme and style, and set the mood for your celebration.

Instructions

1. Decorate the ceiling of the tent, unless you have a clear ceiling and want to keep it exposed to see the stars at night. Drape swags of lightweight, soft material, such as tulle or organza, from the ceiling. Clusters of balloons can float along the top of the tent like bubbles. Hang chandeliers or paper lanterns across the tent for light that will help create the mood you desire.

2. Hang strings of twinkling white lights, fairy or butterfly lights to add soft lighting and a romantic ambiance. Strings of lights and fabric, such as tulle or organza, can wrap around posts, beams or other vertical support elements to disguise the support system and add to the decor.

3. Set up tables and chairs in an arrangement that allows for food service stations, a DJ booth, guest tables and a head table for you and your bridal party, or a sweetheart table for you and your partner. Round or rectangle tables will work, depending on what you prefer.

4. Cover the tables and chairs. Simple white tablecloths and chair covers are typically less expensive to rent than colored linens. Add color with a simple overlay, runner or linen napkins if you desire. Hiding strings of light underneath sheer table linens, such as organza, can add to an enchanting ambiance. Tie a tulle bow around the backs of the chairs for a formal or elegant look that can add color or texture.

5. Place a centerpiece on each table. The centerpieces can include floral arrangements, lanterns, candle arrangements or any centerpiece that complements the style and theme of your wedding. For example, fill a clear bowl or container with water and float candles on top. Surround the container with votive candles and rose petals or faux gemstone confetti.

6. Fill empty spots or define different areas, such as the dance floor or aisle, with flowers, plants or trees. Set up columns with flowing plants or large flower arrangements. Spray paint branches and secure them in large vases or pots. Use strings of lights or ivy to further decorate columns or branches.
