Create an elegant arrangement for your Christmas table.
The halls may already be decked, but if you are planning on hosting a Christmas dinner in your home, you might want to deck the table too. For the holidays when you are having friends and family over for dinner, stick to simple and elegant arrangements for your table. Does this Spark an idea?
Wreath Centerpiece
Use a wreath for your table instead of hanging it on your door. Fashion a wreath out of boxwood cuttings, juniper or cranberry garlands. Lay the wreath down in the center of the table, and set a large pillar candle or a few tapered candles in the center. Fill the bare spots between the candles and the wreath with a heap of fresh cranberries or golden pears mixed with red delicious apples.
Bulbs
Use tree ornaments for an inexpensive and elegant centerpiece. Buff a clear glass hurricane vase to a shine with cheesecloth, and fill it with bulb ornaments. Remove the metallic hooks so the only thing showing is the color of the bulbs. Use a single type of bulb, such as satin finish red or green, or group two colors that complement each other. Gold and red create a feeling of warmth, whereas blue and silver create a cool, wintry effect. If your vase is too small for full-sized bulbs, use miniature bulbs.
Sparkling Fruits
Purchase realistic-looking artificial grapes, limes and pears. Spray them with a coat of spray adhesive, and roll them around in silver and white glitter. The result is fruit that looks as though it has been dusted with sparkly bits of snow. Display them on a serving tray that matches your china pattern or on a pewter candy dish. For a little extra snow, cut a bit of cotton batting to cover the dish you are using, and sprinkle it with a bit of white glitter before placing the fruits on top.
