If you are looking to raise money for a charitable cause, involve your employees in a fundraising event. Gauge interest several weeks to months before the event to determine how many people are willing to get involved. Speak to the charity you plan to sponsor about fundraising ideas it has for your business to incorporate to get involved.
Sporting Events
Businesses can hold a sporting event to raise money for a charity. For instance, host a golf tournament and charge each player an entrance fee. Ask for raffle donations and sell raffle tickets at the reception after the tournament. Also, charge admittance to the reception for guests and family members. Sell shirts, golf gear and mugs with the event information printed on them. Any earnings from the event should go toward the charity of your choice.
Recycling
If you want the fundraising to be ongoing and not cost the business a lot of money to host, consider a recycling event. Collect used printer cartridges, cellphones and electronics and sell them to local companies that purchase the items. You also may collect gifts, food items and clothing from employees to give to a charity around the holiday season.
Fundraising with Food
Selling food can be used to raise funds for a charity. Set up a grill outside your business and charge for hot dogs and hamburgers. Request volunteers to man the grill and handle money. Another option is to rent out a hall or restaurant and host an elegant dinner with entertainment. Donate a portion of the proceeds to a charity of your choosing.
Casual Dress Day
The BreastCancer.org website suggests a dress down day as a way for a business to raise money for charity. Ask employees to give a donation to receive the privilege to dress down or wear jeans to work. A costume party for Halloween also can be used as a way to raise money. Participants pay to wear costumes and enjoy Halloween-themed food and entertainment.
