Do It Yourself Baby Shower Invitation Ideas

Send guests invitations that showcase the decor colors of the baby shower.

Planning a baby shower means organizing a few fun activities for guests to enjoy, informing guests of gift themes the expectant mother prefers and coming up with a color scheme for the celebration. The invitations are also part of baby shower planning; they can give guests a preview of what the party will entail. To create especially clever baby shower designs or save money on supplies, you can make the invites yourself. Does this Spark an idea?

Lace and Bows Invitation

Decorate a baby shower invitation welcoming a baby girl with lace and satin bows for an elegant and eye-catching touch. Purchase invitation stock paper in a pastel shade like lavender or light yellow, and print the words "You're invited to a shower for baby (baby girl's name)." Cover the invitation with lace that is easy to see through after printing all the necessary information on the document, such as time, place and date of the shower. Or, cut strips of lace to hot-glue to the edge of the invitation to create a border. Add tiny bows in one of the colors used for the shower decor in the corners of the invitation to add more texture to the documents before mailing them to guests.

Baby Initial Invitation

Send invitations to celebrate the upcoming birth of a baby boy in the shape of his initial. If your guest of honor plans to name the baby Aiden, use a stencil to cut the letter "A" from invitation stock paper and print the words, "You're invited to 'A' great baby shower!" Include invitation specifics along the sides of the paper letter. Further enhance the invitation with stickers shaped like baseballs or basketballs if the mother-to-be is decorating the baby's nursery with a sports theme. You can also spray the baby shower invitation with blue glitter to make it more visually appealing to guests.

Sonogram Invitation

A baby shower invitation featuring your honored guest's baby's sonogram as the backdrop makes for a heartfelt keepsake. You can have the sonogram professionally printed on the paper of your choice, or the mother's choice, along with the details for the shower. You can further customize the invitations by framing them in small pink frames accented with synthetic pearls or flower petals before giving them to guests, or paint the frames with the baby girl's name or initials. You can also print the sonogram on a colored post card, making it easy to address to mail the invite to baby shower guests.

Baby Bottle Invitation

Buy mini baby bottles and paint them with the baby's initial in blue, red or yellow paint to match the baby boy's nursery. Fill the bottles with candies in these colors, and tie a large bow around the top of each bottle invitation. Before placing the bottle nipple back on, use small invitation cards to write down the baby shower details like the time, location and RSVP date, roll the paper in the shape of a scroll and place the paper in the bottle with the candy before handing your guests a sweet invitation notifying them of the upcoming celebration.
