Birthday Party Ideas For A Toddler Girl

Celebrate your toddler's birthday with a party that suits her personality.

Wish your toddler daughter a happy birthday with festivities that she and her guests will appreciate. Choose a party theme that reflects her favorites and personality whether she's a little princess, a tomboy or a fan of a particular cartoon character. Tailor the event's activities to the age group to keep young guests occupied and engaged. Does this Spark an idea?

Princess Theme

Organize a magical birthday party for your daughter by sending out castle-shaped party invitations that reflect the event's princess theme. In addition to party details--such as the date, location, time and RSVP specifics--invite the guests to wear their favorite princess or knight outfits. Decorate the room with pink or lavender balloons, streamers and tableware and hang a castle cut-out--sold at teacher or party supply stores--on the wall with temporary adhesive. Serve regal refreshments, such as finger peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, star-shaped cookies and pink punch. Offer guests princess party favors, such as foam wands or swords, plastic tiaras or crowns and cartoon princess DVDs.

Favorite Characters

If your daughter adores a specific television show, movie or cartoon character, build her birthday party around it. Send out party invitations preprinted with the character or create your own by adding sticker or clip art character images to the front of blank cards. Make wall decorations by enlarging clip art images on a color copy machine and hanging them with temporary adhesive. Organize a treasure hunt by having the guests search the house for character stuffed animals. Prepare refreshments that coordinate with the theme, such as green-colored punch and cookies sprinkled with edible gold flakes for a Tinker Bell-themed event.

Farm Animals

Let your daughter celebrate her birthday surrounded by cuddly creatures. Design simple invitations by placing animal stickers in the center of blank, red cards and printing the party specifics inside the card. Decorate the house with farm-themed embellishments sold at party supply stores, such as small bales of hay, printed barn cut-outs, and balloons and streamers adorned with animal stickers.

Place assorted stuffed animals around the room or hire a portable petting zoo to come to the house, if your budget allows. Organize games such as "pin the tail on the cow" or a round of "farmer says" based on the game.

Colors and Shapes

Create birthday party invitations, decorations and games based on your daughter's favorite colors or shapes. Host a "pink polka dot party," for example, by sending out round, pink invitations and covering the walls, balloons, tablecloths and tableware with pink, circular cardstock cut-outs and stickers. Prepare pink or circular foods, such as sandwiches cut with round cookie cutters, pink punch and a pink-frosted cake served with strawberry ice cream and pink sprinkles. Hold themed party games, such as a race that requires guests to hop from one pink cardstock polka dot to the next to reach the finish line.
