Games For Teens Around 18

Create some exciting games for young adults with whipped cream.

For many teens, turning 18 marks the transition from childhood to adulthood. When planning a party or social gathering for these older teens, you can still include a few games that are not too childish for the young-at-heart adults. Games get everyone involved in the party and give your guests a chance to win prizes, such as gift cards and small electronic devices, for participating. With a few game ideas and some inexpensive supplies, you have everything you need to create entertaining games for 18-year-olds.

Messy Games

Plan some messy games for the young adults with a couple of cans of whipped cream. Ask each player to select a partner and give each pair an inflated balloon. Cover the balloons with whipped cream. Tell one player to hold the balloon and give the other player a plastic knife. When you say, "Go," the players with the knife must "shave" all the whipped cream off the balloon. The first team to shave all the whipped cream off the balloon wins the game. If a balloon pops, that team is out of the game. If you do not have whipped cream, you can use shaving cream. For another variation, play this game individually by having all the players sit down with the balloons in their laps.

Music Games

Record several songs on a CD or MP3 player before the gathering. Give each player a sheet of paper and a pen. Play 5 to 10 seconds of each song and have the players write down the name of the song. For each correct answer, a player earns one point. For an added bonus, give each player an extra point if he can guess the name of the artist as well. The player who earns the most points wins the game. For another music game idea, play the same game with teams. The team with the most points wins the game.

Ball Games

Hang a clothesline or volleyball net between two trees or poles outside. Ask the players to divide into two teams. Tell the players they are going to play a game of volleyball sitting down on the ground with a beach ball. Play with the same rules as volleyball, and the team that scores 15 points first wins the game. For a wet game, use water balloons instead of a beach ball. Players can use their hands to catch and toss the beach balls or water balloons over the net. If a water balloon pops or a balloon or beach ball drops on the ground, the other team earns a point.

Scavenger Hunts

Create several lists of 30 random items for the players to hunt. Some examples include a fast-food receipt, a tube of red lipstick, an old shoe, a roll of toilet paper and a pink napkin. Divide the players into teams and give each team a list. The young adults must go to neighborhood homes, fast-food eateries and restaurants to find the items on the list. The first team to bring back 25 of the 30 items wins the game. For a harder version, make it a photo hunt. Each team gets a digital camera. Make lists of pictures to be taken such as a picture of one team player with a police officer, a picture of a white dog and of one of the teammates sitting on a fire hydrant. The first team to come back with 25 of 30 pictures from the list wins the game.
