Cheap Meals In Las Vegas

The Las Vegas strip offers a bewildering array of food alternatives.

Las Vegas might be best known for gambling and big name entertainment, but food comes in a close third on the to do list in Sin City. Hundreds of restaurants operate 24-7, so you can pretty much get any culinary craving you may have sated at any time. That said, folks on a budget can gravitate to coffee shops, burger joints and buffets galore for good foodat a good price.

To maximize value, use any coupons or free comps you might have, and do not be shy about asking your dealer or pit boss for a free meal comp when you are leaving the table, specially if you have been gambling for more than a couple of hours.

Graveyard Specials

The best food deals in Vegas are the graveyard specials offered around town. These usually start at 11 p.m. or midnight and last until 5 or 6 a.m. While breakfast is by far the most common and popular such meal, and checks in at just $3 to $5 at most places, as of 2010, a burger and fries combo or a chef salad in the $5 range are often listed with the graveyard specials. Coffee shops at Binion's, Orleans, South Point, Riviera, California and El Cortez casinos all have a reputation for good graveyard specials.

Buffets

Las Vegas is famous for its buffets, which run the gamut from basic, inexpensive breakfast buffets to $40-a-person seafood smorgasbords. Almost every casino offers a buffet or two on a regular basis, and there are usually at least a couple of really good buffet deals going on somewhere in town. Main Street Station, Orleans, Harrah's and Boulder Station are all known for their good quality and reasonably priced buffets. Harrah's even offers a "Buffet of Buffets" deal in which you can get a 24-hour pass for $39.99, in fall 2010, to eat at any (or all) of the buffets at the seven Harrah's casinos in Vegas.

Burger Joints

As of 2010, Las Vegas has an In-N'-Out Burger; it is hard to go wrong with an In-N-Out burger and fries combo for $5. BLT Burger at the Mirage,at the higher end of the burger joint scale, is where you should go for a more gourmet hamburger experience. If you like hot dogs better than burgers, check out Pink's Hot Dogs at Planet Hollywood--top notch dogs at a reasonable price.
