Crepe paper flowers
Crepe paper is a diverse medium to use for crafts with your children, in a classroom or simply at home to entertain yourself. Many professionals even use crepe paper to create faux flowers for centerpieces. Whether you're a professional or amateur, try your hand at a few crepe paper crafts.
Crepe Paper Lei
The Hawaiians welcome visitors and newcomers to their islands with a floral lei. No matter where you live, make a crepe paper lei with your children or for decoration at a party. Before you begin, you will need a needle and thread (the thread must be long enough for the entire necklace) and several colors of crepe paper. Either draw flowers on the crepe paper and cut them out or take 6- to 7-inch strips of crepe paper and ball them up, threading each one on the needle and thread to make them stay. When you're finished, simply tie the string together and you've got a crepe paper lei.
Flowers
Begin this craft with three or four pieces of crepe paper, about 6 inches by 6 inches. Lay them one right on top of the other. Fold the crepe paper accordion style, folding it away from you and then folding it back toward you so that the paper becomes an accordion. Take a twist-tie (preferably green) and place it in the middle of a fully folded accordion. Pull the crepe paper toward each other, place a piece of floral tape at the bottom and then fan it out to form a flower.
Campfire
Have a campfire indoors with this craft. Paint three cardboard toilet paper rolls brown. Stick two cotton balls on the edge of two Popsicle sticks or dowels. Cut orange, red and yellow crepe paper into 8-by-8-inch squares, 7-by-7-inch squares and 6-by-6-inch squares. Place the squares on the palm of your hand, the largest to the smallest and then close your fist. When you open your hand, gather the top pieces and glue them together so that they form a little fire. Place glue at the bottom of your "fire" and put it on top of your brown toilet paper tubes.
