Carnival Activities With Magnetic Fish

Carnivals often provide hours of fun and games for the entire family.

Carnivals travel all across the country and offer a wide variety of entertainment for the entire family. Games of chance are a staple in the carnival and people of all ages will line up to try their luck at winning a prize. Magnetic fish games are seen at most state fairs or carnivals and have become very popular due to their ease of play. Many other exciting games can be created with magnetic fish.

Fishing With Magnets

Players are invited to use a plastic or wooden pole with a magnet on the tip to fish out a magnetic fish for a prize. The fish are usually numbers and the prizes correlate with the number on the fish. The fish move around in a circular pool powered by a stream of water pushing the fish forward. Players stand behind a small wall and are allowed to lean over to fish out their prize.

Magnetic Fish Toss

Tossing a magnetic fish for a prize can be challenging. The carnival operator sets up a magnet board that will catch the fish as it is thrown. The board is slightly tilted so the player has a good chance to throw the fish at an angle for it to catch. Many times the board will be outlined with a certain prized marked in the center or outer square. Players are offered to try their luck with three tosses for $1.

Doubles Fishing

This game can be set up where four players can compete as teams. The game operator can put two separate colors of magnetic fish in a tank. The players, now forming teams of two, will use magnetic fishing poles to pull their opponent's fishes from the tank. The team to be the first to remove the opponent's fish will be the winner.

Blind Man's Fish

This game requires two people to play. One person is put in front of a cloth wall with a blindfold. The other person will be the fish thrower. The blinded player will have their hands covered in a magnetic hand glove as they try to snag the flying fish from the air. The thrower will be allowed to guide the catcher as to where the fish are as they throw then to try to help their partner catch the fish while in mid air.
