Minnesota offers seasonal outdoor activities and excursions as well as indoor clubs and events to keep seniors entertained throughout the year. Whether you are located in the north, south central or southern part of the state, various programs and organizations are available. You can choose from quilting clubs, sports teams and recreational nature trips.


Fergus Falls Senior Citizens Program


Winner of the "Minnesota Nonprofit Excellence Award," the Fergus Falls Senior Citizens Program offers trips, clubs and single events at various times throughout the year. Several options are regularly available, including exercise classes, card games, Bingo, quilting, birthday parties and movie night. This center also offers a fitness facility, computer lab, library and game room with a pool table. Meals are served daily. The only requirement for participation at this property is to be 55 or older.

Let's Go Fishing With Seniors


Let's Go Fishing With Seniors in Alexandria offers boating and fishing outings in seasonally appropriate months. This nonprofit organization prides itself on conducting excursions at no cost to participants. The only requirement is that you be 55 years of age or older. A specially designed pontoon with high rails, captain's chairs and wider access for wheelchairs is used for these trips, which take place on various Douglas County lakes. Experienced volunteers lead these expeditions.

Hopkins-Minnetonka Recreation Services


Hopkins-Minnetonka Recreation Services hosts a biking club exclusively for seniors that meets a couple times a week, weather permitting. The group has a guide that leads them down pathways and trails. You also can join one of the summer softball leagues. These teams also meet twice a week and fall under two age categories: 55+ and 70+ for a slower-pitch game. If you're more interested in single event activities, various hiking, canoeing, wineries and shopping excursions are held throughout the year.
