Make the invitation fun, heartwarming, memorable, and one that invited guests will want as a keepsake. Include design elements that feature the couple, the times they've shared, and memories they cherish. Classic 50th Anniversary Symbols and Colors


Gold is the color and violet is the flower used to symbolize and honor a 50th anniversary. If you are using an invitation designer, make sure that these colors are used. For example, the cover could feature a beautiful illustration of a violet with a gold border. Envelopes could be addressed with a metallic gold pen to send to recipients, and the invitations can be scented with lavender perfume.


Headlines From 50 Years Ago


Go online or to the local library to get copies of top news stories and headlines from the year and on the day the couple were married. Design an invitation that looks like a newspaper front page. Use real stories and rewrite history by including the couple in the articles. Make their wedding the top news for the day. Include stories that feature the wife or husband as the president for that year or the head of a major company that had a news breaking story. Use actual pictures from the date in history and insert pictures of the husband and wife.


Fifty Reasons Why Guests Should Attend


Create a fun and clever invitation by writing 50 reasons why guests need to attend the party. Ideas can include amusing quips about the husband and wife, memories about their children and grandchildren, and way-out ideas on how they can weather the world's problems--having survived together for the last 50 years. After cake and champagne recap the 50 reasons why over a toast to the couple and to add fun to the celebration.


Balloon Bouquet of 50 Thoughts and Well Wishes


Get 50 balloons and attach them on the cover or inside of the anniversary party invitation. Include a small strip of paper, 1 by 5 inches. Instruct guests to write a note or wish to the couple, and insert it inside the balloon and bring with them to the party. Collect balloons as guests arrive and blow them up to create a balloon bouquet. Have the anniversary couple pop the balloons and read the wishes from their guests over a champagne toast after cutting the 50th anniversary cake.
