Games To Play At A Luau Party

Play some luau games at an outdoor tropical bash.

Luaus bring to mind beaches and palm trees. A luau is a festive theme for an outdoor party in warmer weather. There are plenty of tropical-themed games that can be played, so grab your leis and grass skirts and head outdoors for some Hawaiian-style fun at a luau party. Does this Spark an idea?

Limbo

You can't have a beach-themed party without doing the limbo. Use a broomstick or long dowel to create a limbo stick and put on some tropical music. Have guests wiggle under the limbo stick and see who can get down the lowest without falling to the ground. Adjust the stick a bit lower every round to present more of a challenge. Present the winner with a pineapple or a grass skirt.

Seashell Search

Hide some seashells in a sandbox full of sand for younger guests. You can also hide summer-themed toys such as water guns and squirting starfish. Give each guest a plastic pail and shovel to search for treasures, and they can keep whatever they find as party favors.

Pass The Coconut

This game is similar to Hot Potato, but you'll use a coconut instead. Blast some hula music and allow guests sitting in a circle to pass around a coconut and whoever has the fruit when the music stops is "out." Play until there is only one person left, and that person gets a prize.

Hula Dancing Contest

Teach party guests the basics of hula dancing and hand out grass skirts. Hold a contest to see who can come up with the most creative hula dance, funniest hula dance, best hula dancer and any other categories that you can come up with. This will be a laugh for all of the guests.
