Games help ease any awkwardness that may exist at a shower.
Both wedding showers and baby showers can be awkward social events for all the parties involved, even the guest of honor. One way to ease any tension or awkwardness is to plan several games for your guests to play and have prizes ready for the winners. These games will help guests connect with one another and will ensure that everyone enjoys themselves.
The Toilet Paper Game
You can play toilet paper games at both wedding showers and baby showers. All you need is several rolls of toilet paper and someone to be the judge. Have guests split up into teams of two to three people. For wedding showers, each team chooses a model and then creates the best bridal gown they can out of the rolls of toilet paper. For baby showers, each team dresses the chosen team member in a designer diaper. The team with the best diaper or wedding dress wins.
The "Never Say" Game
The "Never Say" game is a way to get guests involved in a game from the moment they walk in the door. As soon as your guests arrive, give them colored clothespins to stick on their clothing. Choose a word that they are not allowed to say. For wedding showers, choose words such as "wedding" or "bride" or "dress." For baby showers, choose a word such as "baby." As soon as another guest hears someone say the forbidden word, she can take that clothespin from her. The person with the most clothespins wins a prize.
Bingo
Everyone loves to play bingo, and it's an easy game to play at a wedding or baby shower. You can make it interactive by using the gifts as the foundation of the game. Create bingo boards for each guest, along with bingo cards. Simply number the gifts at the shower according to the boards and as the guest of honor chooses a gift to open, guests will play the game. Award the winner with a prize.
The "What's In The Bag" Game
Bags are important and necessary accessories for both the bride-to-be and the mother-to-be. Turn this need into a game by using a brown paper bag and filling it with pieces of paper with the names of all the contents in each bag. For wedding showers, write down the contents that are found in a bride's purse, such as lipstick, a mirror, tissues, or make up. For baby showers, write down the contents that are found in most diaper bags, such as an extra outfit, diapers, wipes or diaper cream. The guest that guesses the most items in the bag correctly wins.
