You can transform your backyard into different party themes.
Although you may just see your same old backyard when you look out the window, a backyard can provide a world of options when it comes to party planning. Backyards are like a blank canvas that can be decorated and transformed to suit your party theme needs. A few backyard party theme ideas will help you decide what is perfect for your party requirements. Does this Spark an idea?
Picnic
During the warmer months of the year, you can throw a backyard picnic for your party. There are different ways to throw a picnic and to decorate for your theme party. Purchase or rent picnic tables to set up outside and cover them with plastic table clothes in your chosen party color scheme. Then you can use the grill to make hot dogs and hamburgers and serve other picnic fare with the meal. The other main type of picnic is the picnic basket enjoyed on the ground. If you do not want to rent or buy picnic tables, line your backyard with picnic blankets. Then on each blanket include a picnic basket filled with sandwiches, chips, fruit and drinks.
Luau
Luaus are traditional Hawaiian celebrations, complete with a feast and entertainment. A traditional luau is complex and elaborate; however, if you want to plan a luau in your own backyard, you can keep it simple. For decorations, use store bought tiki torches, which you can find a party supply stores. Decorate with string lights and silk flower leis. For tablecloths, use strips of fabric from your local craft supply store; choose fabrics with a Hawaiian print. Rent a pig roaster and roast an entire pig, or skip the roast pig and opt for ham steaks, glazed with pineapple sauce. Set up a bar and serve homemade mai tais to drink. Luaus usually have hula dancers for entertainment. If you do not want to spend the money to hire dancers, opt for recorded Hawaiian music and allow the guests to do their own hula dancing.
Movie Theater
Instead of going with a more traditional outdoor theme, you can turn your backyard into movie theater. For the movie screen, hang a large white sheet or blanket on the side of your house and use a projector to show the movie on the white sheet. Seating can be created one of two ways. One option is to line your backyard with sheets and blankets. Guests can sit on the blankets for the movie and if they desire, can bring their own pillows and blankets to cuddle up with. The other option is to set up folding chairs in the backyard and use those for seating. Set up a lobby for the guests on the side of the yard, out of the way of the movie screen. For the lobby, use a folding table and cover it with a tablecloth in your chosen color scheme. Provide a number of movie snacks on the table so your guests can help themselves throughout the movie. Movie snacks include popcorn, candy and sodas.
