Bauan is in the western side of central Philippines and sits on the coast of Batangas Bay. Though the town of Bauan is small, larger cities in the area such as Dasmarinas City, Batangas City, Calamba and Manila offer rich culture and a variety of attractions. Plaza Mabini
The Plaza Mabini is about 3 miles outside the city limits of Bauan. It is in the town of Batangas City and is situated just off the Bauan-Batangas Provincial Road, which runs through Bauan. The plaza is in the town center and sits between two large parks. The plaza and parks were awarded first prize by the National Beautification Project Contest in 1969 for its combination of natural beauty in an urban location. The plaza includes two water fountains, a gazebo, stage and a life-sized bust statue of Apolinaro Mabini, a philosopher who played a large role in the first Philippine republic.
Rizal Shrine Fort Santiago
About 25 miles north of Bauan is the Rizal Shrine Fort Santiago, which is in the town of Calamba. The shrine is less than 1 mile from the Laguna de Bay and across the street from Calamba City College. Jose Rizal was a martyr and symbol for Philippine freedom. He is known for the poem "Mi Ultimo Adios," which is displayed as part of the shrine. Other features include some of his personal effects as well as sculptural pieces, facsimiles of select writings and prize-winning paintings from the Jose Rizal Centennial painting competition.
Monte Carlo Dive Center and Resort
The Monte Carlo Dive Center and Resort is about 20 miles north of Bauan. It sits in the heart of Manila, easily accessible by train and is only two blocks from Manila Bay. Because of its proximity to the coast, Monte Carlo has access to some of the best diving spots in the Philippines. They offer a variety of activities to experience the water, including introductory diving, snorkeling and windsurfing courses as well as banana boat and jetski rentals and island hopping packages. Visitors to Monte Carlo Dive Center can extend the stay with the standard and deluxe room options in the resort. The resort also features a swimming pool, dive pool, restaurant and karaoke room.
