Great Summer Party Ideas

Have a sushi and sake party during the summer.

Summer is the season of sun, fun and parties. You can have many different types of summer parties, depending on whether you have a yard or a pool available. Standard barbecues that take place in the backyard are always fun. However, try some great summer party ideas that your friends and family will not expect. When you are planning your summer party, consider the interests of the people attending and whether children will be invited. Does this Spark an idea?

Sake and Sushi

Go with a Japanese theme by having a sake and sushi summer party. Guests will be delighted with this innovative and upscale party. It is ideal for a daytime party, as well as a night-time soiree. Unless you are skilled at making sushi, consider picking up sushi platters from your favorite restaurant or a Japanese grocery store. Also, purchase the sake from the same place. This party should be for adults only.

Cupcakes

Celebrate the onset of summer by having a cupcake party. Invite parents and kids to your party. Options include making the cupcakes yourself or purchasing them from a local bakery. Include cupcakes in a variety of flavors, such as chocolate, vanilla, funfetti and red velvet. If you are baking them, frost them with frosting in bright colors, such as yellow and pink. Create summer designs on them, including pictures of the sun, palm trees, flip flops and butterflies. If you are purchasing the cupcakes, the bakery will create those designs if you order them as such. For an added touch, create a cupcake designing area for the kids. Include plain cupcakes and lay out all of the decorations needed to frost and create designs on them.

Camp Out

A summer party idea that is ideal for kids is to have a camp out with them. Of course, some adults will need to be included as well. Camping is ideal while it's warm outside. Start the evening with a barbecue and grill hot dogs, hamburgers and vegetables. Get the tents up and set up camp. Start off the evening by playing music and charades. Spend the rest of the time playing cards and telling stories.

Movie Night

A summer party idea for adults is to have movie night outside. If your friends are near your own age range, watch an older movie, that was popular while you were in high school. Provide beer and popcorn to your guests. A great twist on this idea is to use a projector, or rent one if you don't own one, and watch the movies outside on blankets or in lawn chairs.
