Christians believe that Jesus was the Son of God. They follow Jesus' message of love and salvation through him for the whole world. When planning a special event for Christians, use a theme they will appreciate. Think about a theme that carries the Christian message of love, peace and faith. Does this Spark an idea?
Light of the World
Jesus said his followers were the "Light of the World." Follow the light theme by decorating with lighthouses. Order or make a cake for the party in the shape of a lighthouse. As lighthouses are traditionally red and white, use those colors, plus yellow for the light, as your color scheme. Create a centerpiece by positioning a lighthouse in the center of the table. It would be perfect to have a lighthouse that could be lit with a candle. Guests can put their goodies on red plates and napkins. A fun activity would be a candle lighting. Provide every guest with a candle in a cup that they can light at a special time of prayer.
Praise Parties
Praise and worship of God are important to the Christian faith. Host a praise party with lots of good music. Before the party, create a song list of Christian worship songs. Play the songs during your party in the background. You could even let people sing karaoke to the songs.
Invite musicians from your church or ministry to lead music at your praise party. Party decorations could feature musical notes. Make a musical centerpiece by displaying sheet music on your table. Surround the music stand with beautiful candles and tiny musical ornaments. Raid your Christmas ornaments for harps or drums.
Alternatively, invite guests to come to a praise tea party. Serve tea and light refreshments. Place small cards on tables that have scriptures on them from the Book of Psalms.
Meet Your Neighbors Party
Christians value fellowship times. Fellowship with other believers is important to their faith. Host a meet your neighbor party for new Christians in your area. This party could be based on the question Jesus was asked, "Who is my neighbor?"
Have a potluck and ask everyone to bring her favorite dish. Or let everyone chip in on pizza and drinks. Send out invitations that say, "Welcome, neighbor!" Play some Bible trivia games and spend time getting to know everyone.
Progressive Parties
A progressive party can involve a couple of different host homes. Ask each host home to provide one part of a meal. For example, someone could prepare the salad. Another home would have the main meal, the dessert and the side dishes.
The key to success with a progressive party is to assign meal duties to families that aren't too far apart. While it's fun to visit the homes of your Christian friends, you probably don't want to send guests 20 miles for a dessert.
