Couples Wedding & Shower Wording Ideas

Bridal showers are no longer just for girls.

Bridal showers and wedding showers were once reserved solely for the bride-to-be and her female friends or family members. Today, it's not unusual to host a wedding shower for the couple. Both the future bride and groom attend the shower, and both male and female guests attend. The wording on these invitations is slightly different from same-sex invitations because you must make it clear that both parties are attending and everyone is welcome. Does this Spark an idea?

Traditional Wording

One idea for couple's shower invitations is to use the same type of wording you would for a girls'-only bridal shower. "Please join us in honor of ___ and ___" is a simple way to let guests know that the party is for both the bride and groom. Include details inside the invitation about the date of the party and the time, as well as information on where the couple registered. "We're honoring the future Mr. & Mrs." is another option for the bridal shower wording. This is best if you're throwing the shower with your significant other and want guests to bring their partner to the party. You also have the option of simply telling guests that you're throwing a wedding shower in honor of the bride and groom.

Funny Wording

As couples showers are still fairly nontraditional, treat party guests to a funny invitation that reminds them of this fact. "The chain is joining the ball for a couple's wedding shower" is one simple and straight-to-the-point method of wording your invitations. If the groom has a nickname, use that on the outside of the invitation. For example, "Jane is letting Mac in on the wedding shower" lets guests know that the groom is attending, as well as other men. Use the full name of both the bride and groom inside the invitation, in case guests aren't aware of their nickname.

Use Verses

Bridal and wedding shower invitations use verses on the outside or inside of the invitations. The verses are sometimes biblical in nature and often relate to love. Include a verse that focuses on the love between two couples on the front of the card. Inside the card, tell guests that this is a couple's shower and open to all couples and friends or relatives of the couple. You can even include the opening lyrics or chorus to the couple's favorite love song on the invitations.
