Iceland's Blue Lagoon, near Reykjavik, is a naturally-heated spa rich in minerals.
Cool places to visit during the summer include countries in the Scandinavian region of Europe and cities in the mountainous and hilly regions of India. Travelers can also head south of the Equator to parts of South America.
Iceland
Iceland's summers are cool with little darkness at night during June and July. Flight times from New York, Boston and Baltimore are five to six hours. Visitors to Iceland can swim in geothermally-heated pools and view scenic landscapes mostly created by volcanic eruptions and glaciers. Whales often frequent the North Atlantic waters surrounding Iceland making the country great for whale watching.
Chile
Ski season in Chile runs from June through October. According to Chile's Snow Skiing Resort and Ski Center website, the Valle Nevado ski resort, situated in the heart of the Andes mountains, is the largest ski resort in the southern hemisphere. The resort has three hotels and two apartment complexes.

India
Manali, in the state of Himachal Pradesh, is surrounded by some of the snow-capped peaks of the lower Himalayas. Attractions in Manali inlcude ancient temples, hot water springs, waterfalls and more. Munnar, in the state of Kerala, is situated 1,600 meters above sea and contains national parks, wildlife sanctuaries, lakes and rivers.
