Examples Of Beach Party Decorating

A beach party can happen right in your own backyard with some thoughtful planning and the right decorations. Tropical theme decorations, along with games, food and music reminiscent of the beach, will have your guests feeling as if they are relaxing in the sand and surf. Grab your Hawaiian shirt or grass skirt, and get to decorating for the beach party of the year.

Patio

Tiki torches are necessary at a beach party.

String small white lights around the edges of the patio along with tiki torches, which can be lit at night. Place potted or inflatable palm trees around the patio, add beach towels in a large basket for your guests to use and lay out flower leis for each person. Small mirrors can be placed on the tables, covered with sand and seashells for decoration.

Buffet Table

Tropical fruit is part of the menu for a beach party.

Cover the food table with a red-and-white picnic tablecloth, and place straw place mats over it. Fill small beach pails to hold silverware, napkins and straws, and fill large coolers with ice and fruit-flavored drinks. Use platters to hold sliced tropical fruit such as pineapples, mangoes, kiwi and melons, and have skewers of barbecued shrimp and vegetables. For dessert, roast marshmallows over an outdoor fire pit or make s'mores.

Game Area

Beach balls make for fun party games.

Decorate an area for playing beach games. Set up a volleyball net and play with beach balls, have a badminton set off in another area, and set up a small children's pool with a bucket of water balloons and water pistols that can be filled up in the pool. A sandbox can also be set out for having sand castle contests. And do not forget to play some beach-style music such as the Beach Boys, Jimmy Buffett or just some ocean sounds in the background.
