Although never necessary for a birthday party, a well-made bowl of punch is often the perfect addition to the celebration. There are as many different recipes for punch as there are parties to drink it at. Even though punch is commonly considered a summer drink, there are recipes even for those with winter birthdays. Does this Spark an idea?


Slush Punch


This is a rather basic party punch that involves boiling 1 to 2 cups of sugar and two pouches of strawberry gelatin in 6 cups of water. After the sugar and gelatin have dissolved, stir in 1 can of pineapple juice, 2/3 cup lemon juice and 1 quart of orange juice. After this is mixed, freeze the mixture. When serving simply break or cut the frozen mixture into smaller chunks and add two 2-liter bottles of lemon-lime soda.


Holiday Punch


Perfect for an adults winter birthday, this alcoholic holiday punch involves mixing a 750 bottle of whiskey, 6 oz. of lemon juice, one 6-oz. can of both frozen orange juice concentrate and frozen lemonade concentrate, 3 liters of lemon-lime soda and a couple drops of red food coloring. Once these ingredients are mixed together, top with an orange and a lemon that have been cut into rounds.


Sherbet Punch


This incredibly basic punch is perfect for the hot weather of outdoor summer birthday parties. Choose a half gallon of the birthday person's favorite flavor sherbet and let it soften. Mix it with 1 liter of ginger ale, 2 cups of lemon-lime soda and 2 cups of grapefruit or some other kind of citrus soda, depending on taste. Stir until the sherbet is almost dissolved in the liquid and serve.
