Barbie Princess Party Ideas

A Barbie princess party makes a great birthday party theme for young girls.

In Barbie's fifty years delighting little girls, she's had more than a hundred careers. However, one of the most exciting of these is princess. For a little girl, a princess Barbie party combines two of her favorite characters: princesses and Barbies. At the same time, she gets to be the center of attention on her birthday. However, there are so many resources available for throwing both princess parties and Barbie parties that it can be a hard time to know where to start when planning a princess Barbie party. A few simple organizational ideas can help you throw your daughter the party of a lifetime. Does this Spark an idea?

Doll Party

For a party that's both about princesses and Barbies, you can make the event even better by allowing the dolls to join in. On the invitations, make sure it's clear that girls are welcome to bring their own dolls to the party. Then, you can set up a table for cake time that's ready for both the big girls and for their miniature friends. By letting the dolls join in the party as well, you're letting the fantasy Barbie world come to life for these young girls.

Crafts

You can find many decorations for both princess parties and for Barbie parties at most retail stores or specialized party stores. However, letting the guests help turn your home into a castle fit for Barbie and her friends can make the party more interactive. Start out by providing them with plenty of materials (cardboard, markers, glitter, safety scissors) to make their own crowns and crowns for their dolls. Prepare for craft time by finding extra materials that can be used to make Barbie furniture and accessories for her own castle: shoeboxes that can be turned into canopy beds, jars that can be turned into towers. The girls can take their creations home at the end of the party.

Treats

The food at a princess Barbie party should be fit for your young princesses. You can have a twist on a normal birthday cake by giving cupcakes to the girls -- they can even decorate their own with decals and sprinkles. You can also make a batch of mini cupcakes for the dolls, without having to waste a slice of birthday cake on Barbie! No matter what food you serve, some of it should be available in a miniature size. That way, no young plastic guests will be left out of the festivities.

Gift Bags

If you can afford it, a Barbie doll works as a party favor for the guests to take home. However, the cost can quickly add up, especially for larger parties, and there are a lot of accessories for Barbies that young girls will enjoy: crowns, dresses, everything a princess needs! There are also a lot of small objects from the Disney Princess line -- while not Barbie-themed, many accessories can also be used for Barbie dolls. Stickers, writing paper, markers -- the possibilities are endless.
