Disney Military Vacations

Disney Cruise Lines offers military discounts on select cruises.

All U.S. military personnel, whether Coast Guard, Marine, active duty or veteran, qualify for a discounted vacation to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, or Disneyland in Anaheim, California. Disney constantly promotes military vacations to its dozens of theme parks, resorts and cruise destinations. Current military promotions vary throughout the year, and staying aware of the current discounts, either through the Internet or a military base's travel office, will ensure you receive the vacation you deserve.

Disney Military Ticket Discounts

Disney World and Disneyland offer discounted ticket pricing for military members and up to five accompanying guests. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or in advance through the Internet. The military discount for tickets purchased at the gate or at a military base is usually only discounted the cost of the tax. The best ticket discounts offered are special promotions offered by Disney World and Disneyland. These packages are specifically put together for military personnel, providing steep discounts. For example, in 2011, Disney World has a four-day military promotional ticket for $138. That's cheap considering a standard daily ticket costs $82 as of 2011.

Military Discount Hotels

Hotels consume a large percentage of a family's travel budget. Getting a military discount at one of Disney World's or Disneyland's nearby hotels is a straightforward process that will save you some money. All the major hotel brands, Marriott, Intercontinental, Starwood, Hilton, Holiday Inn, Hyatt and Wyndham, offer military discounts. You will most likely have to call in advance to inquire about a military discount as not all hotels provide the discounted rate when booking through the Internet. Also check with the nearest military base's travel office to see if any hotels provide promotional rates.

Shades of Green Resort

Shades of Green Resort is a military-owned recreational facility located at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The resort is only available to service members and their family, an opportunity for America's armed forces to enjoy a vacation while interacting with other service members. The resort features over-sized rooms, dining outlets, pool, fitness center and transport to all the Orlando Disney theme parks. The resort is one of the few military recreational resorts in the United States.

Disney Cruise Lines

Disney Cruise Line is very popular, providing theme-oriented cruises dedicated to meeting a family's needs. It allows guest to experience a different kind of Disney experience -- think Mickey Mouse in a Hawaiian shirt. Disney Cruise Line offers military discounts on select cruises throughout the year. Which cruises are available varies, so you need to keep close watch on what is offered and when. But the discounts are vast. Disney offers 3-, 5-, 7- and 10-day cruises to the Caribbean, Mexico, Bahamas, Europe, Alaska and the Panama Canal.
