Birthday Party Ideas For Young Girls

A beautiful butterfly cake for a garden party

If your little girl is about to have a birthday, throw her a celebration as fabulous as she is. When choosing a theme, there are many options. Party stores are loaded with supplies covered in popular cartoon characters. It's a little like buying a ready-made party in a bag. If you are looking for something a little more authentic, try designing your own theme. Does this Spark an idea?

A Garden Tea Party Theme

What little lass wouldn't love a good, old-fashioned tea party? If the weather is nice you can have a garden party outside. If not, create your own garden inside with construction paper flowers glued to green pipe cleaners. Place them in tiny pots all around. You could put each guest's name on a pot and let them be taken home as party favors. As an activity you can buy tiny clay cups and saucers and let the kids paint them. You can make a flower-shaped cake. Use a round pan for the middle and brightly-colored cupcakes all around for the petals.

A Princess Ball

The Princess Ball theme starts with the invitations. Use paper that has a graphic of a scroll and invite your guests at the "Queen's Command." Have them dress up in princess gowns. Reserve one corner of the room for princess makeovers. Use kid-friendly gloss and sparkles and pink and purple hair pieces to give every girl the royal treatment. Make a simple layer cake into a castle using a cupcake on top with cone-shaped icing for the highest tower. For party favors, hand out wands and crowns or bags with elegant tissue filled with faux gems and jewelry.

A Ballerina Party

If your little girl is into the art of the dance, you can throw her a bash suitable for a prima ballerina. Create invitations that look like tickets to the ballet. Make tutus for all the guests out of pieces of tulle tied with ribbon around their waists. Hang up a laundry line and use shower curtains for a stage. For the cake, make a large sheet cake. Cover it with blue icing to look like water. Place tiny plastic swans, which you can find in a craft store, all around and call it Swan Lake. Or you can make cupcakes and ice them in white. Then use a ribbon tip on an icing bag to swish light-pink ribbons across the top. For party favors guests can take home their tutus and perhaps even a pink rose.
