Birthday Crafts For Dad

birthday gift

Crafts made for a dad's birthday can show the craft-makers care enough about him to put their time and creativity into making a personal gift. Since there are craft project for all ages, there are several options to choose from no matter the craft-maker's abilities.

Birthday Plate

A birthday plate craft for a dad is a gift he can use often, from having his birthday dinner on it to using it for dinner everyday. To make a birthday plate, paint a design onto a clear glass plate. Choose something meaningful to the dad, such as a design inspired by his favorite sports team, or a personal message. Be sure to use a paint designed for use on glass. Allow paint to dry two hours or according to directions. After paint is dry, seal with layer of gloss glaze. Allow to dry for 24 hours before giving to dad.

Stress Balloon

A stress balloon can help a stressed-out dad relax. To make a stress balloon, fit a balloon onto the tip of a funnel. Fill a measuring cup with 1/2 a cup of flour and slowly pour it into the funnel. As you are doing this, gently squeeze the balloon to help the flour work its way into the bottom of the balloon. Pour all of the flour into balloon. Grasp balloon below opening and remove funnel. Tie the end of the balloon so the flour doesn't fall out. Use a permanent marker to write a message or decorate balloon for dad.

Pad Holder

A notepad holder allows dad to take notes while reminding him of the little craft-maker who gave him the gift. To make a notepad holder, glue a notepad to the middle of a piece of cardboard using white glue. The cardboard needs to be large enough so that several inches around the notepad are exposed. Draw a design on the cardboard around the notepad using crayons, markers or colored pens. Turn the cardboard over and write a birthday message on the back.
