Rake up fall leaves for jumping into as a fun fall party activity.
Fall is the perfect time to throw parties for children. The weather hasn't turned too awfully cold, but the summer heat is gone. The bugs aren't biting, and the colors all around us are sublime. The weather is typically quite conducive to lots of outdoor play. Some parents opt for hosting fall parties instead of trick-or-treating on Halloween. Fall birthday parties are fun as well. Plan your next children's party to take place in the fall. Both the kids and the adults involved will be awfully glad you did.
Pumpkins
Since fall signifies harvest time, there are a bounty of activities around which you can plan a children's party. Visit a local pumpkin farm and arrange for a hayride. Allow all the guests to choose a pumpkin of their own. Upon returning home, have the adults help the children carve the pumpkins and toast the seeds in the oven for a delicious and healthy snack.
Apples
Visit an apple orchard and let the kids go wild. They'll love climbing the trees (most pick-your-own apple orchard trees aren't too awfully tall) and picking lots of apples. Treat everyone to homemade doughnuts and apple cider while at the orchard. Some orchards feature hay rides in the fall as well. Also, many apple orchards feature fall festivals on weekends that include live entertainment, face painting and hands-on crafts for the kids.
Cut the apples in half and provide the children with paints and paper. They can dip the halved apples in the paint and create some stamping art.
Fun at Home
Enjoy the fabulous fall season as you plan your child's party to be held right at home. Rake up giant piles of leaves for jumping in. Do crafts from fall leaves, too. Ask each child to choose his or her favorites and have adults help them iron their choices between two sheets of wax paper. Slice up freshly harvested apples and set out an array of bowls for dipping. Include yogurt, peanut butter, honey, cream cheese and whipped cream.
