Food To Serve At A Baby Shower

Baby-Shower Punch

Fill a punch bowl with delicious punch made especially for the baby-shower theme. If you know the baby's gender, make either pink or blue punch using the appropriate color powdered drink mix to color the punch.

Gather one unsweetened powdered drink package, 3/4 cup of sugar, one two-liter bottle of lemon-lime soda, a 10-ounce can of frozen piña colada drink mix, two quarts of water and two cups of ice cream (flavor of choice). Make the powdered drink mix with the water and sugar. Combine the remaining ingredients in a large punch bowl with the ice cream added to the top of the punch in rounded scoops. This punch serves 25.

Cake

Get creative with the cake, especially if you know the baby's gender. Find out if the mother has chosen a nursery theme and use it to decorate the cake. For example, decorate a baby boy's cake with puppies or baseballs or decorate a baby girl's cake with fairies or butterflies. Use icing to match the cake decorations.

Diaper Treats

Make tiny diaper treats using pink, blue or white square beverage napkins. Place mixed nuts or mints into the center of the napkin and pull the bottom two corners together over the treats. Pull one of the remaining corners over to touch the first two corners and pin the three corners together with a decorative pin to make dainty little diaper treats.

Mini-Main Dishes

In honor of the impending arrival of the new mini-person, make the food all miniature. Make a platter of mini-quiches in miniature tart pans. Make the crusts and then fill each quiche with a delicious egg, cheese and meat mixture. Make mini-sandwiches cut into tiny bite-sized triangles with chicken or tuna salad as the filling.

Make a vegetable platter filled with colorful vegetables. Include baby carrots, baby corn on the cobs, tiny cherry tomatoes as well as other vegetables. Try to fill the platter with a variety of different vegetable colors. Place a bowl of ranch dip near the vegetables for dipping.

Fill a bowl with mini tortilla chips and set out bowls of salsa and guacamole.

Make a fruit salad with raspberries, blueberries and pitted cherries for a sweet salad made up of tiny, bite-sized fruits.
