Camo Theme Party Ideas

Creating a camouflage theme for your party is easier than you think.

Hosting a party with a camouflage theme means you can turn your home or outdoor party area into a hunting club or military camp with less effort than you might think. Many decoration items are simple to make or affordable to purchase. Does this Spark an idea?

Invitations

Buy invitations in hunting or military patterns that will match your camouflage theme if your budget allows. Making your own invitations is cost-effective and a creative way to get into the spirit of the party. Use camouflage cardstock or construction paper in greens, tans and cream colors with appropriate expressions of invitation like, "Meet me in the duck blind at..." or, ""You are being drafted" to set the tone of the party. Include a request that guests dress in camouflage or camouflage colors.

Decorations

Decorations include the table-setting components: tablecloths, plates, cups, utensils, bought at party stores or online. With some creativity you can come up with your own. Purchase paper or vinyl table cloths in one of the traditional camouflage colors, buy plates in another color, cups in another and utensils in yet another.

The overall effect when the table is completed will match your camouflage theme. Consider creating a blind or bunker around the food area if you are serving buffet style. Place balloons and streamers in camouflage colors around the party area and use balloons later in games.

Favors

Children's parties typically end with passing out party favors. Make these inexpensive items like brown paper lunch bags colored with markers or painted to look like camouflage and filled with treats. Give out toy army helmets, binoculars, sets of plastic army men, toy duck whistles or plastic toys like deer or ducks that are related to hunting.

Games

Most traditional party games can be adapted to fit a camouflage party theme. Pin the tail on the deer could substitute a deer for a donkey and the players' eyes could be covered with a camouflage 'kerchief.

Capture the flag and hide and seek are perfect outdoor games for guests dressed in camouflage. Scatter army men throughout the outdoor party area and let guests search for them and take home the ones they find. Set up an obstacle course and let the soldiers compete for the best completion time. Use those camouflage balloons and fill them with water. Have a target practice or grenade launch activity using the balloons.

Cakes

The bakery offers the most convenient option to purchase a cake or cupcakes. Making your own is be more challenging but you can customize the cake. Bake a regular sheet cake and frost with dark green or brown icing. Wash a few army men and construct a battle scene on the top of the cake. To make a tank cake, bake two cakes that measure 9-by-13 inches and one that measures 9-by-3 inches. Once they are cooled, stack the two larger cakes and set the smaller cake on top like the turret of a tank and frost in camouflage colors. Frost several cupcakes several in each of the camouflage colors and decorate with an army man, sprinkles in a camouflage color or a miniature plastic animal like a deer or duck.
