Chinese Party Favor Ideas

A Chinese party is a pleasing way to celebrate any occasion. Whether it is a birthday party, Chinese New Year celebration or Harvest Moon Festival, sending your guests home with Chinese party favors will help them preserve the memories and have a souvenir of the evening. Does this Spark an idea?

Red Envelopes

Hong Bao, or red and gold envelopes, are the traditional gifts for Chinese New Year, weddings and birthdays in China. They are filled with money and given to young children, teens and single adults. Red envelopes are available at Chinese markets, party supply stores and online. Fill them with small amounts of money, gold-wrapped chocolate coins or gift certificates for ice cream and treats for a unique party favor.

Gift Boxes

Traditional Chinese takeout boxes are now available in many colors and sizes. Gift boxes are also styled to look like Chinese "cheongsam"-style shirts. Fill these with treats and small gifts from party supply stores. Favors choices include Chinese character tattoos, necklaces, key chains and wooden character bracelets. Fortune cookies are always a classic Chinese tradition. Also available are mini noise makers, paper fans and Chinese rubber duckies with Chinese characters printed on them.

Chocolates

Mold your own Chinese candy lollipops for homemade party favors. Candy-making supplies can be purchased at craft stores, including the candy melts, plastic wrappers and lollipop sticks. Use red and gold candy melts to make dragon, long life, love, luck and double happiness lollipops. Simply melt candy wafers and paint the symbol or dragon in gold. Let dry and fill the cavity with red melted candy. Add the stick and cool completely before removing and wrapping.

Favor Activities

Let the party activities be the party favors. Craft kits come in activities for all ages and interest levels. Older guests can carefully paint their own paper lanterns and umbrellas with watercolors. All ages can make their own jewelry with necklace and bracelet kits. Using sticker scenes, guests can make a Chinese New Year festival scene or dress a panda in traditional Chinese clothing. Dragons' activities and red envelopes are other craft choices.
