Centerpieces Made With Balloons

Create a festive centerpiece using a basic balloon.

If you are planning a party on a tight budget, use balloons to create a stunning table centerpiece. Balloons cost a lot less than fresh flowers and can have the same amount of visual impact. Use a balloon centerpiece to decorate a picnic table during a summer soiree, a buffet table that needs more zing, or a wedding reception table. Choose balloon colors and shapes that coordinate with the overall look and theme of the party space. Does this Spark an idea?

Balloon Bouquet

As an alternative to expensive flowers, make a bouquet made of balloons. Choose mini bloom-shaped balloons on plastic sticks. Create a bouquet featuring rose, tulip, daisy and sunflower-shaped balloons. Cover the sticks with green craft paint to resemble stems. Display the flower balloons in a decorative vase. Each party guest can take a balloon home as a favor.

Hot Air Balloon Basket

Decorate your party table with a hot air balloon basket for a touch of whimsy. Choose a large, round balloon featuring a special message such as "Happy birthday" or "Happy anniversary." Tape the ends of six gold ribbons to the balloon, and weave the other ends through a small woven basket to resemble a hot air balloon. Use the basket to hold candy, candles, cookies or party favors.

Floral Centerpiece

Create a centerpiece combining fresh flowers and balloon blooms. Place a pot or basket filled with a flower plant, such as a daisy or tulip, in the center of the table. Make a flower showpiece by blowing up five vibrantly hued balloons and tying the ends together to form a petaled flower. Tie one end of a long shiny ribbon to the bottom of the balloon bloom and the other to the pot or basket for a colorful, summer-inspired centerpiece.

Balloon Topiary Tree

Turn balloons into a tree topiary for an eye-catching table display. Inflate two balloons and tie the ends together with a small piece of ribbon. Make three more sets of balloons. Twist two balloon sets together to create a cluster of four; twist the final two sets of balloons together to finish with a cluster of eight. Wrap the balloon cluster around the top of a plastic topiary stand, and place the stand into a plant pot filled with sand, glass beads, marbles or any other decorative item.
