Free Homemade Party Invitation Ideas For A Teen'S Birthday

Free Homemade Party Invitation Ideas for a Teen's Birthday

Sending party invitations to guests can be one of the most fun parts of planning a party, especially if you make the invitations at home. If you are planning a teenager's birthday party on a budget, you can save money by making homemade invitations out of materials you most likely have on hand. Does this Spark an idea?

Cereal Box Invitations

Cut several empty cereal boxes into 4-by-6-inch pieces of cardboard. Draw lines on the plain side of the cardboard and write a fact, such as "What," "Date and Time" and "Location" on each line. You can decorate the printed side of the invitation with cut out letters from magazines or markers, or you can leave it plain if your teenager is a huge fan of that particular type of cereal. In place of cereal boxes, you also can use empty cracker or fruit snack boxes.

Cootie Catcher Invitations

Fold pieces of copy or printer paper into cootie catchers, a form of fortune-telling origami popular with younger teenagers. On the outside of the cootie catcher, write "It's a Party!" or something similar. Provide the pertinent party details underneath each of the cootie catcher's flaps. Have the teenager distribute the cootie catchers to her friends at school.

Mad Libs

Type up the details of the party using a word processing program. Remove a word from every other sentence and replace it with a line of underscores. Make sure you do not remove any details the guests will actually need, such as the date and time. Print out the invitations as well as an instruction sheet explaining what parts of speech are needed to fill in the blanks. Fold the invitations so the guests will see the Mad Libs instruction sheet first and the actual invitation second.

Ransom Note Invitations

Cut out letters from a newspaper or magazine and glue them to a piece of paper to spell out the details of the party. If you would like, make a folded invitation by folding the paper in half widthwise, then in half lengthwise. Glue the letters to the inside flap and build a collage out of magazine images on the outside.

Picture Invitations

Find a photograph of your teenager with each of the invited guests. Glue a 3-by-5-inch card or small piece of paper to the back of each photo. Write all the party's details on the paper or index card, including the date, time, RSVP and contact information and location. The picture invitation will hopefully be one guests hang on to long after the party. The idea only works if you have pictures of all the invited guests.
