Fun Random Games

Games like Hide and Go Seek can create cherished memories.

Whenever you have some spare time to hang out with your friends, playing a game or two can give you something to do as well as some laughs. From physical outdoor games to memory-based inside games, you have a plethora of random activities to choose from to keep both yourself and your guests entertained and having fun.

Pairless

Divide the players into two teams, arranging the division so that one team has one less player than the other. Have the team with less players form a standing circle. Direct the second team to form a circle around the first team. When you say "Go," have both teams start to walk within their circles with one team moving left and the other moving right. At a random moment, shout "Stop!" The players all have to pair up with someone of the opposite team. The player left without a partner then picks another person out of the group to leave with him. The game continues until only one couple remains, winning the game.

Message under a Plate

This game is particularly apropos for a formal dinner party. Write down one odd, random phrase for each player in your group, such as "I didn't know monkeys could dance" and "The violin has never sounded so beautiful." When setting the table, place one written phrase under each plate. After serving the players, ask your guests to sit down and start conversations with each other. The players each have to use the phrase under their plates without the phrase being identified by another player. People can accuse each other, but if the accuser is wrong, she loses her chance at winning the game. The people who use their phrases without getting caught win the game.

Everybody's It

Gather all of the players within a large space and have everyone spread out. Once you shout out "Everybody's it!," direct the players to all race around and try to tag any players they can get their hands on. Once a player is tagged, he must stand frozen in place until another player chooses to tag him back into the game. If two players tag each other at the same time, they both remain frozen. Play the game for as long as you like.

Snatch

Start this game by gathering up some random household items and placing them on a table. Assemble the players around the table and pick one person to guess first. Tell the guesser to face away from the table. Silently motion to another player to take one item from the table and hide it behind his back. The guesser then turns back around and tries to guess which item was taken and who took it. She has five guesses. If she guesses correctly by the fifth time, she gets a point. Let everyone have a few turns at the game. The person with the most points at the end wins.
